After having watched the haunting film Fuocoammare I can't but feel a bit more conscious of Italy's essential part in the refugees crisis. I'm highly proud of my country's ongoing commitment in having rescued thousands of refugees from certain death in water. 
Over decades Lampedusa Island has been bearing witness to the harrowing stories of people who are tirelessly and hopelessly trying to reach Europe for a better life. 
Gianfranco Rosi's film Fuocoammare is a necessary, educational and dreadful photograph of the greatest humanitarian tragedy of our times. 

(Dopo aver visto l'ammaliante pellicola Fuocoammare non posso non sentirmi più cosciente dell'essenziale ruolo giocato dall'Italia nella crisi dei migranti. Sono altamente orgogliosa del continuo impegno della mia nazione nell'aver salvato migliaia di migranti da morte certa in acqua. 
Da decenni l'isola di Lampedusa sta testimoniando le strazianti storie di persone che tentano senza sosta e disperatamente di raggiungere l'Europa per una vita migliore. 
Fuocoammare di Gianfranco Rosi è un necessario, educativo ed agghiacciante ritratto della più grande tragedia umanitaria dei nostri tempi.)
